Things from the Flood with Nils Hintze

At GothCon earlier this year we had the great privilege of playing Free League Publishing's "Things from the Flood" with the game's Lead Designer Nils Hintze as our Gamemaster.

This is the follow-up to the award winning "Tales from the Loop" and is also based on the amazing art of Simon Stålenhag.

What you will be able to listen to here is the scenario "The Ugliness" from the core book played as a oneshot, beginning with one hour of character creation and peppered full with 90's nostalgia. If you want to jump straight to the play session you can skip ahead to 00:58:37.

If you want to hear more of Nils you should check out his amazing podcast PodCon, which you can listen to here http://pod-con.blogspot.com/

B6 - The Veiled Society, with Fear of a Black Dragon

We had the amazing opportunity to play the classic Dungeons & Dragons module “B6 – The Veiled Society” from 1984, together with our friends at the Ennie-award winning old school RPG podcast ”Fear of Black Dragon”. The setting for the module is the city of Specularum in Mystara, where three powerful families are vying for power. Interestingly enough this is a hard-boiled detective story where the player characters have to solve a murder and avoid becoming victims of the scheming machinations of the three families.

The adventure was written by David “Zeb” Cook who would later on create the amazing Planescape setting.

There is a companion episode for this made by Fear of a Black Dragon where they analyze the module that you can listen to here

D&D - The Styes, Part 1: City on the Water

Issue 121 of the very much missed "Dungeon Magazine" contained a fantastic adventure for D&D 3rd edition called "The Styes", that took place in a dark and dreary port town plagued by mysterious murders. On Tuesday the 21st of May the new D&D 5th edition module "Ghosts of Saltmarsh" will be released and The Styes is one of the many classic adventures that have been included.

To celebrate this new launch we made our own conversion of the old adventure and ran it as a one-shot. Enjoy part one here and do check out Ghosts of Saltmarsh!

Stormbringer, with The Grognard Files

We are very happy and pleased to bring you this special episode of Red Moon Roleplaying where we got to play Chaosium's Stormbringer RPG from 1981. The game is written by industry legends Ken St. Andre and Steve Perrin, and is based on Michael Moorcock's works about Elric of Melniboné, the albino sorcerer who wields the enchanted black blade named Stormbringer. A blade that feeds off of blood and souls.

Gamemaster for this session was none other than Dirk the Dice from the excellent podcast The Grognard Files, a show that talk bobbins about table-top RPGs from back in the day and today. We are big fans and would definitely recommend you check the show out if you are interested in those magical games that built the hobby in the 80's. DEGENESIS: Voltaic

We got the great opportunity to play the gorgeous primal punk RPG DEGENESIS by SIXMOREVODKA with Kyle Willey, who is a freelancer on the game, as our Gamemaster.

500 years have passed since a swarm of asteroids ushered in the end humanity. Earth is engulfed by a new ice age. But Mankind hasn‘t given up just yet. From the ashes of a destroyed civilization, a new one has risen. Cults, clans and tribes are fighting for dominance in a world that is being reborn. Apocalyptic sects raise fortresses in the landscape. Clans form new cities. Border towns rise from the settling asteroid dust. A whole people are on the move to harvest the artifacts of the lost generations. To rebuild earth in a new and glorious fashion.

But in the shadows of the craters something is moving. A strange virus that was traveling underneath the icy shell of the asteroids has started infecting humanity‘s DNA. The virus, called the Primer, is starting to mutate people who get in touch with it, transforming them, turning them into a new apex predator, a new race of human beings.

It‘s the birth of Homo Degenesis."

Nibiru: Kimera 02 with Federico Sohns

JOB CODE: #27AC3
LOCATION: BLACK HARBOR
P.O.C: NEMERYA
DESCRIPTION (FORWARDED BY P.O.C):
Seven cycles ago, during the last true cycle, several pieces of A.I. disappeared for reasons unknown. The Elder Council believes that this is somehow related to a more recent event: the vanishing of Kiara, Mergo and Raphael – three local kids that used to roam in the outskirts.

I need you to find them.

Bring them home and, if possible, find out what might have happened with the A.I’s.

We had the amazing opportunity to play the upcoming Nibiru - a sci-fi RPG of lost memories with its creator Federico Sohns as our GM. Nibiru is on Kickstarter now, check it out here:

Nibiru. A massive space station, submerged under the sea of debris orbiting the Star of Fomalhaut: A steel-clad vulture feeding of the corpse of a thousand unborn planets.

The Skyless World, safeguarding a collection of enclosed city-states—civilizations that have endured for thousands of years. From the Core and the Antumbra, where the world's benign and all is light, through the Penumbra and the Umbra beyond, where light ends, and the station's artificial gravity crushes all.

In the far corners of this outlandish place, a group of amnesiacs wanders through the land. Theirs are the tales of loss, struggle and remembrance. Theirs are the stories you will tell.

The One Ring: The Kin-strife

We have something special for you today. We have played the short adventure “The distressed husband” from the classic MERP module “The Kin-strife” using the rules from The One Ring by Cubicle 7. "The Kin-strife" is a module about the civil war in Gondor between traditionalists and loyalists that took place about 1600 years before the events in “Lord of the Rings”.

“But Valacar far exceeded his father’s designs. He grew to love the Northern lands and people, and he married Vidumavi, daughter of Vidugavia…”
“Therefore when Eldacar succeeded his father there was war in Gondor. But Eldacar did not prove easy to thrust from his heritage. To the lineage of Gondor he added the fearless spirit of the Northmen. He was handsome and valiant, and showed no sign of ageing more swiftly than his father. When the confederates led by the descendants of the kings rose against him, he opposed them to the end of his strength. At last he was besieged in Osgiliath, and held it long, until hunger and the greater forces of the rebels drove him out, leaving the city in flames. In that siege and burning the Tower of the Stone of Osgiliath was destroyed, and the palantir was lost in the waters.”
